In-store Asia 2025 proved once again to be a powerful confluence of ideas, insights, and innovations shaping the future of retail. As the largest trade fair in the Indian subcontinent for retail design and in-store solutions, the event offered not just a glimpse into what’s new — but a deeper dialogue around what’s necessary. At FRDC, we are proud to have actively participated in this evolving conversation — both through meaningful engagement and humble recognition.

A Standout Moment: Responsible Retail Design, A Call for Conscious Interventions
One of the most thought-provoking sessions of the event was the panel discussion hosted by the Retail Design Institute (RDI) on “Responsible Retail Design – Achieving balanced social, environmental, and economic development by embedding ethical decision-making in inclusive and sustainable design interventions.” Moderated by our very own Sanjay Agarwal, Founder & Director, FRDC and Chair, RDI India, the panel brought together diverse voices from across the industry to address a pressing shift: from commercial success to conscious design.
The session highlighted how retail design can no longer be viewed purely through the lens of aesthetics or ROI. As Sanjay emphasized, “Every design decision is a moral one — it shapes not only spaces but also behaviours, communities, and ecosystems.” The conversation challenged designers and strategists alike to adopt an ethical framework, fostering inclusivity, sustainability, and social impact at every level of the retail journey.
The dialogue served as a timely reminder that while innovation continues to lead the way in retail, intention must be its compass.

FRDC Wins at VM&RD Retail Design Awards 2025
Adding to the energy of the event, FRDC was honored with Merit 1 in Green Initaitive and Sustainability Category at the VM&RD Retail Design Awards 2025 for our project — Asian Paints - Beautiful Homes Service.
This recognition celebrates our continued efforts to transform retail spaces into meaningful, consumer-centric ecosystems. The Asian Paints - Beautiful Homes Service project was a testament to our belief in immersive, experience-led design that simplifies complex journeys for consumers while staying aligned with the brand’s evolving narrative. The award reaffirms our conviction that great design is not just seen — it is felt, lived, and remembered.

Looking Ahead
From AI-led innovation to sustainability and storytelling, In-store Asia 2025 captured the evolving role of design — not just to attract, but to engage with purpose. The ideas sparked during the event — particularly around responsibility in design — are sure to echo long after the exhibits are packed up.
At FRDC, we remain committed to pushing these conversations forward and bringing them to life through the work we do. As we continue designing for the future, we carry with us a deeper sense of responsibility — to create not just successful spaces, but meaningful, inclusive, and ethical ones.
Until next time, let’s keep designing with purpose.
