What we did?
Parv means ‘celebration’ in Hindi. The store offers a wide variety of art, jewelry, sarees and home lifestyle products that are handcrafted from natural materials and sourced directly from artisans and NGOs or select manufactures. The store space was transformed by changing the ceiling into a pitched roof and hence giving a ‘welcome’ to home feel. Keeping the ethos of natural and original in mind, the design objective was to be sustainable in all form of materials used for construction. Cuddapah – a local stone and local clay products formed basic material usage.
As the theme for Parv is a ‘celebration’, the attempt was to create a house that complements not just the lifestyle products but also the space/landscape it was standing in. To achieve the same, the design was worked to retain the entire landscape environment around the build form in the front yard. Trees within the landscape have been retained and decorated with sustainable materials like threads and organic colours and the theme changes as per different festivals in India.
